Phil Harty
Mystic Sparrows

Greetings, my name is Phil Harty (he, him, his) and Iā€™m a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, poet, andeducator. I've played in multiple bands and styles around the Tacoma and Seattle area for the last 15-20years. I've planned and taught percussion ensemble, music production, and songwriting classes/campsfor diverse youth of all ages around the Tacoma area with Metro Parks and privately. I have recently beencreating Voices of Tacoma poetry podcasts and my poem "Sequoia in the City" was published in the 2024Voices of Tacoma poetry anthology. The current musical projects I'm involved in now are called MysticSparrows, Cellophane Eyes and Tacomarama. Mystic Sparrows is my instrumental solo musical project1with occasional collaborations of friends. Cellophane Eyes is a band of three people that has beenrecording music and playing shows locally for four years. Our songs are derived from multipleimprovisational jam sessions that have very few to no words but are packed with imagery and meaning. Inthe band Cellophane Eyes, I play percussion, keys, and trumpet. Tacomarama is a fun community streetband with percussion, woodwind and brass instruments. I play both trumpet and percussion in Tacomarama.
