Tacoma Arts Live is reinventing the traditional performing arts center with a commitment to equity and access. We believe that arts and social events are vital to a thriving community and we are striving with a sense of humility to ensure that the transformative power of the arts is within reach of all South Sound residents.  Hosting 66,884 patrons in 2023 and 2024 for large-scale immersive experiences and concerts, intimate theater productions, massive markets and fairs, and community events like roller skating and dances. The Armory’s office and event spaces play host to over 90 creative entrepreneurs, including musicians, photographers, videographers, an improv theater troupe, clothing designers and more. With its open immensely configurable spaces, there is no venue quite like it in the Pacific Northwest.

Iole Alessandrini
TO THE NORTH POLE AND BACK

Iole Alessandrini is an Italian American artist known for large-scale public art, and Laser Plane photography. She studied Fine Art, and Architecture in Rome. Iole's work intertwines classical aesthetics with technology, creating a poetic resonance that transcends mere physicality.In 2000 she created Winter Season of Light a 300 feet long light installation in downtown Tacoma with support from the Season of Light Committee. The Mayor proclaimed December 2000 “Season of Light Month”. Iole is recognized by Betty Bowen and a Rockefeller Nomination. A Civita Institute’s awardee and director(1998-2022), she supports American artists in Italy. A member of SOIL since 2009, Iole teaches at Bellevue College and DigiPen.Her Laser Plane Photography captures the light-phenomena of human lingering energies left in space.1Fueled by international grants and crowdfunding, her work advocates climate awareness, blending Nature and technology. From permanent, Augmented-Reality interactive installation at Climate Pledge Arena(2022), to pioneering Ioleography TM in the Arctic (2023) Iole solicits singular reflections on the equilibrium of Nature.
